Друга світова війна – Північна Африка. Танкові частини німецького генерала Ромеля, прозваного англійцями «Лис пустелі», з жорстокістю атакують позиції британської армії й притискають її до кордонів Єгипту. Капітан «Тамі» Мак Робертс – шотландський командос призначений командувати батальйоном дев'ятого австралійського союзницького полку, що захищає ключовий пункт британської оборони.Австралійці не полюбили нового командира. Despite all odds they succeed with their mission.
