Squabbling Sharma family has a dubious reputation of not having any cook last there for more than a few months. Word spreads out about this family to such an extent that no person wants to be employed as a cook in this household, ironically named Shanti Nivas. Then one day a young man named Raghu offers to work as a cook, and he is hired. Raghu quickly gets a grip on his job and on each of the family members, and soon the squabbles and arguments come to an end. And then the Sharmas find the family jewels and Raghu missing.

В одну з дощових ночей народжуються дві дівчинки-близнючки, яких одразу ж розлучають. Минає багато часу. Одна з сестер — Зіта — весь час гарує за трьох: на тітку, на дядька і на двоюрідну сестру. Тітка після смерті її батьків зробила з неї «попелюшку». Інша, Гіта — живе з названою матір’ю, що таємно забрала її в матері відразу після пологів. Гіта виступає на публіці разом з авантюристом Ракою та хлопчиком Чино. Вони обидві й не уявляють, що станеться, коли вони нарешті зустрінуться.

Zamindar Surya Kishore Chowdhury is a kind-hearted man who loves playing chess and is a fantastic singer. While he cares for his estate and the people, he is careless towards his wife, Indu's feelings. Dr. Bijoy Chakrabarty, who was helped by the zamindar during his student days, lives in his palace and one day, he successfully executes his plot to murder the zamindar while coercing Indu to keep quiet.
