In the poor Norway in the early 1800s Gjest Baardsen starts off like a Robin Hood, stealing from the rich, giving to the poor. Based on the real character which became the poor mans hero, and got lots of help to get away from the law.

The frogs have a democracy, but they beseech Jupiter to send them a king. Jupiter can hardly believe this amphibian foolishness, so he sends them a tree as king. The frogs make obeisance to their new monarch, but they are dissatisfied and petition Jupiter again. Now he sends a proper king with a crown, a stork. Frog ladies and gents turn out to see the new sovereign and bring tribute. The stork starts to eat the frogs. They beg Jupiter for help. Jupiter hurls down lightning bolts, while the king continues to eat his subjects. "Moral: Let well enough alone."

Кримінальний геній на прізвисько Летюча Миша знову залишає поліцію в дурнях — краде з сейфа, який посилено охороняють, безцінне намисто і залишає правоохоронцям записку, в якій повідомляє, що на певний час іде на спокій. Після цього Летюча Миша віддаляється в провінцію, де йому вдається вдосталь потішитися над мешканцями одного відокремленого маєтку.
Сюжет

Волоцюга відвідує карнавал. Там кишеньковий злодій підкидає йому гаманець, щоб врятуватися від арешту. Волоцюгу звинувачують у крадіжці та йому доводиться тікати. Рятуючись від погоні Волоцюга опиняється на манежі цирку прямо під час вистави. Намагаючись сховатись від поліцейського він зриває виступ фокусника, але це дуже подобається публіці. Цирк переживає важкі часи та власник бере Волоцюгу на роботу, побачивши його успіх.

Hildy Johnson, newspaper reporter, is engaged to Peggy Grant and planning to move to New York for a higher paying advertising job. The court press room is full of lame reporters who invent stories as much as write them. All are waiting to cover the hanging of Earl Williams. When Williams escapes from the inept Sheriff, Hildy seizes the opportunity by using his $260 honeymoon money to payoff an insider and get the scoop on the escape. However, Walter Burns, the Post's editor, is slow to repay Hildy back, hoping that he will stay on the story. Getting a major scoop looks possible when Hildy stumbles onto the bewildered escapee and hides him in a roll-top desk in the press room. Burns shows up to help. Can they keep Williams' whereabouts secret long enough to get the scoop, especially with the Sheriff and other reporters hovering around?

Brigitte is the manager of a record shop. At the beach Wolf tries to kiss Christl but she rejects him and he turns his attentions toward Brigitte, who is more receptive. Wolf and Brigitte go off together and he seduces her. Back on the beach, Wolf and Erwin, now tired of their dates, flirt with two other women as Brigitte and Christl look on, appalled. They have small satisfaction when the men have to borrow money from them to pay for the paddle-boat they were renting.
