Острів Родос, друге століття до нашої ери. На острові неподільно панує тиран Ксеркс, оточений улесливими зрадниками - придворними. Небагато чесних людей вимушені переховуватися, інакше їх чекає в'язниця. В цей час на Родос приїжджають афінянин Даріо і відразу опиняється залученим в підготовку заколоту проти Ксеркса, який планується здійснити в день урочистого відкриття статуї Колоса Родоського. Змовники планують використовувати статую в здійсненні своїх зухвалих планів...
Сюжет
Острів Родос, друге століття до нашої ери. На острові неподільно панує тиран Ксеркс, оточений улесливими зрадниками - придворними. У фільмі мало місця приділено «затертому» сюжету про «аргонавтів», можна сказати згадується про цьому мимохіть. Причому аргонавти показані аж ніяк не романтично героїчно, а скоріше нагадують найманців-мародерів. Більша ж частина фільму присвячена другій половині життя Мідеї і Ясона: зустріч, любов і розставання. Кинута, і навіть вигнана Мідея не може простити підступництва свого колишнього улюбленого, що проміняв її заради весілля із Глоціею, дочкою короля Креона. Вона починає помсту за допомогою своїх магічних чарів.
