Герої фільму борються проти лідерів і режимів. Вони ризикують своїм життям, щоб побудувати нове суспільство, що базується на совісті.Єгипетська революція набирає обертів, неначе карусель. Із новин ми отримуємо лише побіжний огляд найважливіших подій – виборів чи маршу мільйонів. На початку серпня 2013 р. ми спостерігали за тим, як вже другого президента усували від влади за попередні три роки.
«Майдан» – це стрічка, що заглиблює глядача у вир подій. Залучає до глибої емоційної драми на тлі історії звичайних людей. Про них не довідатися з преси. Це історії, що надихають. Історії молодих людей, які відстоюють власні права, долаючи чисельні перешкоди: від брутального військового режиму, який збирається придушити повстання танками, до корумпованих членів Братів мусульман, що використовують мечеті для маніпулювання електоратом. Активісти у нашому фільмі озброєні лише камерами, соціальними мережами, відео завантаженими на YouTube, а також рішучістю звільнити свій народ. Фільм відзнято у стилі «кіно вар’єте», що надає глядачам деталізований погляд на революцію у самому її серці. Завдяки новітнім технологіям, голос молодих людей неможливо приглушити у цифрову епоху. Наші герої б’ються у віковічній війні модерною зброєю.
Фільм «Майдан» вперше з’явився на екранах у вигляді чорнового монтаж на міжнародному кінофестивалі «Санденс» у січні 2013 року, де отримав Приз глядацьких симпатій у категорії «Міжнародне документальне кіно». У той момент, коли творці фільму отримували нагороду, головні герої продовжували боротьбу на вулицях Єгипту. Тоді перший президент, обраний демократичним шляхом, оголосив про надання собі повноважень, що перевищували ті, які мав щойно повалений диктатор. З огляду на неочікуваний поворот подій, ми знали, що історія матиме продовження. Ми повернулися на вулиці, щоб зафіксувати те, що пізніше увійде до фільм як друга частина – конфлікт із Братами мусульманами та усунення Могамеда Морсі єгипетською армією.
Ми стаємо свідками неймовірної самопожертви героїв фільму на шляху до свободи. Завдяки промовам цих сміливих революціонерів ми розуміємо, чому вони вірять, що варто ризикувати життям та здоров’ям заради ідеалів і майбутнього країни.

Sought for questioning by local authorities, McAfee fled to Guatemala, then returned to the US where he pursued the Libertarian Party nomination for President in 2016. Over the years, journalists have told pieces of McAfee's story (including the infamous Vice report accidentally revealing his secret location). Here the Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Nanette Burstein delivers a deep investigation that sheds new light on the shadows around the 70-year-old mogul. McAfee refuses her requests for an interview, but continues a strange cat-and-mouse email correspondence for months. Over the years, journalists have told pieces of McAfee's story (including the infamous Vice report accidentally revealing his secret location). Here the Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Nanette Burstein delivers a deep investigation that sheds new light on the shadows around the 70-year-old mogul. McAfee refuses her requests for an interview, but continues a strange cat-and-mouse email correspondence for months. In Belize, Burstein conducts revelatory new interviews with McAfee's former associates, uncovering his bizarre behaviour with women, local gangsters, and guns. She probes into the investigation of the unsolved murder of Faull, and learns of other allegations against McAfee for crimes that were never prosecuted. Paranoia runs high on all sides of this story, but Burstein never backs down in pursuing answers.

Bombay Beach is one of the poorest communities in southern California located on the shores of the Salton Sea, a man-made sea stranded in the middle of the Colorado desert that was once a beautiful vacation destination for the privileged and is now a pool of dead fish. Film director Alma Har'el tells the story of three protagonists. The trials of Benny Parrish, a young boy diagnosed with bipolar disorder whose troubled soul and vivid imagination create both suffering and joy for him and his complex and loving family. The story of CeeJay Thompson, a black teenager and aspiring football player who has taken refuge in Bombay Beach hoping to avoid the same fate of his cousin who was murdered by a gang of youths in Los Angeles; and that of Red, an ancient survivor, once an oil field worker, living on the fumes of whiskey, cigarettes and an irrepressible love of life. Together these portraits form a triptych of manhood in its various ages and guises, in a gently hypnotic style that questions whether they are a product of their world or if their world is a construct of their own imaginations.
