Учасники фільму Суспільного — Олексій Гапон, Єфросинія Давиденко, Надія Хало — люди, які ще дітьми пережили Голодомор 1932–1933 років. Вони мешканці одного селища міського типу Оржиця що на Полтавщині. Свідків Голодомору залишилось мало, а їхні розповіді — унікальні. У стрічці вони розповідають, як їм вдалося пережити страшну трагедію: чим харчувалися, де ховали їжу. Спеціально для фільмування одна з героїнь назбирала трави біля своєї хати, щоб продемонструвати, що з того можна приготувати. Кожен герой фільму має власні спогади про ті часи, які разом складають картину геноциду українського народу.
