Лукас — звичайний непримітний школяр, який живе зі своїм батьком. Такі, як правило, не користуються популярністю та є вельми сірими на тлі своїх однокласників. Усе життя він думав, що в ньому немає нічого особливого. Але на одній вечірці, в найбільш невідповідний момент, у ньому прокинувся страшний монстр. Як виявилося, він зовсім не людина, і його мама також була монстром. Вона залишила Лукасу карту, по якій можна дістатися до цілого острова чудовиськ. Хлопчик готовий піти назустріч пригодам, щоб нарешті зрозуміти, хто він такий, знайти своє коріння. На Острові монстрів його чекає купа нових знайомств, відкриттів і боротьба проти злого монстра. Лукас, хоч на вигляд і звичайний хлопчик, пробудить у собі справжнього героя.
