Перетворення вдалося, але й після цього нахаба не вгамовується: він розповідає власникові замку, що той даремно оплакує дружину, бо та жива-живісінька і проживає нині у сусідньому замку зі злобним чаклуном доктором Скарабусом, який і перетворив його на птаха. А може, й не сама дружина, а її неприкаяна душа. Звичайно, наш "удівець" вирушає у замок, сподіваючись на те, що розповідь непроханого гостя — вигадка.
