The artist, Antonio Lopez, tries to paint the quince tree he planted some time back in his garden. Throughout his life, he has worked on the same theme many times, almost as if it were a physical necessity. Every year, with the arrival of autumn, this need resurfaces. The artist's work has never represented the sun's rays between the leaves of the tree, and, given his characteristic realist style, he tries to achieve this. But he goes about it in the same way, without consciously pursuing a finished picture - he just wants to be close to the fragile lavish tree for a few weeks.

Від шоку жінка не може змусити себе вийти з машини і перевірити, чи справді вона когось збила, і якщо так, то кого. Вона просто їде далі і поступово втрачає голову від того, що з нею сталося. Жінка не може забути про аварію і не може жити своїм звичайним життям. Після аварії Вероніка поступово втрачає контроль над сприйняттям реальності та не може визначити, що було насправді, а що їй лише здається. І глядачі протягом фільму так і не впевнюються достеменно, що яким був справжній плин подій у житті героїні, а що було дивної грою її підсвідомості.

The czar of Russia has died and a power vacuum has developed. This period in the late 16th and early 17th century has been called "The Time of Troubles." There are many impostors who claim to the right to rule, but there's only one heir, the Czarina Kseniya Godunova. She has married a Polish military leader who wants to claim the Russian throne in her name so he can rule all of Russia. As the Poles move in on Moscow in an attempt to install the czarina on the throne, Andrei, a serf with a life-long infatuation of the czarina attempts to save her from her brutal Polish husband.

The film takes place in 1877 during the Russian-Turkish war.
