Експериментальний фільм-колаж створений американським художником Джозефом Корнелом у 1936 році. Випадково знайшовши на розпродажі 16 міліметрову копію фільму «На схід від Борнео» з Роуз Гобарт у головній ролі, Корнел був настільки зачарований акторкою, що вирізав з фільму всі кадри, де її не було. До тих, що залишилися, режисер додав кадри з фільму про сонячне затемнення і перемонтував це все в окрему короткометражку, яку назвав на честь виконавиці головної ролі — «Роуз Гобарт». Також Корнел видалив оригінальний саундтрек, а замість нього додав дві пісні з платівки бразильского співака Нестора Амарала, купленої в тому ж магазині мотлоху. Під час показів режисер умисно пропускав проєкцію через блакитне скло та уповільнював плівку до швидкості, з якою демонструють німе кіно (16 кадрів на секунду проти 24 у звуковому). Це надавало кадрам зі звичайного пригодницького фільму відтінку сюрреалістичності та таємничості.
