This is based on a true story. During the Civil War, a Union spy, Andrews, is asked to lead a band of Union soldiers into the South so that they could destroy the railway system. However, things don't go as planned when the conductor of the train that they stole is on to them and is doing everything he can to stop them.

Після Громадянської війни ветеран Кідд заробляє читанням газет у маленьких містечках. Доля зводить його з 10-річною дівчинкою, врятованою з полону індіанців. Капітан Кіддс береться доправити сироту через сотні миль у дім родичів. На своєму шляху вони зустрінуться з невблаганною природою і з набагато більш страшною стихією — людською жорстокістю і жадобою.Фільм планувався до виходу в український кінопрокат на 7 січня 2021. Є офіційний український трейлер, але напевно через епідемію фільм в український кінопрокат не вийшов. Сам фільм для кінопрокату не дублювали, лише трейлер.

After murdering Sam, Zimmerman knows they must keep Tom alive in order to complete their plans. Owens does not correct Zimmmerman's assumption that Vin is his wife, correctly sensing that the misconception might be the key to her survival also.

Dick Powell does a very good job using deduction and logic to find who on the train could be conspirators. He is foiled at different times but manages to succeed even when the conspirators have caught him. The movie's action takes place mostly on the train and the effects of travelling are well done. Historically, several states have already seceded from the union and that included Virginia. That's why Lincoln had to travel to Washington, DC, through Maryland, also a slave state. When he was taking his own "Inaugural Train" the plan was to kill Lincoln in Baltimore during a long stop but Lincoln's supporters did some slight of hand to sneak him on board the last train to the capital. Maybe not Oscar material but a very enjoyable piece of entertainment.
