Він завжди залишався у тіні — не фотографувався, не давав інтерв’ю, не виходив на фінальний уклін та не ставив своє ім’я на одязі. За прагненням анонімності Маржели стояла проста ідея — те, що він робить, його продукт, його речі важливіші за його персону.

Одяг став його маніфестом та можливістю яскраво заявити про себе. Так Ґотьє оточив себе «фриками» та повістю віддався свободі творчості, виходячи за всі можливі рамки, нав’язані суспільством.
